A military suspense drama set in a godforsaken base in the Jordan Valley. A team of fighters is sent to rebuild “The Bathhouse” – an abandoned and godforsaken base in the Jordan Valley. A series of mysterious events leads Saul, the team commander, to believe that the place carries an ancient curse, and as the days pass, his soul begins to crack. Saul seeks solace and finds it in the sounds of the harmonica of his uncle, a young and sensitive soldier with a musical soul and the ability to listen. But as Saul weakens and uncle emerges as a natural leader, their relationship deteriorates: trust turns to jealousy, and the curse seems to hover over the next one.
Beneath the surface unfolds a contemporary adaptation of the biblical story of Saul and David, a drama about emerging Israeli masculinity, in a charged military space, moving between instinctive power and fragility that yearns for closeness. The curse that hangs over the young heroes of 2025 is a shadow of an ancient past, raising the question: Do we control our own destiny, or are we all trapped as soldiers serving our own eternal ethos?
The series was inspired by the real base, Hammam al-Malih (in Eastern Samaria), which was an advanced training base for the Paratroopers Brigade. The base was dismantled in the early 2000s and remains an abandoned site containing the memories, stories, and legends of thousands of soldiers who passed through it. It is surrounded by Palestinian settlements and the nearest Israeli settlement is Moshav Beqaot.
