The popular arranger David Taub, originally known as a singer before dedicating himself to music arrangement and production, has worked with some of the top artists in the Chassidic music world. Now, in a dramatic step forward, he takes center stage with his debut album for the High Holidays, titled “Yamei Rachamim.”

The title track features the words of the “Kitzur Shulchan Aruch” regarding the laws of the month of Elul and the Days of Awe. Throughout the album, Taub takes listeners on a musical journey, blending a wide array of styles from around the world. Despite the diversity in sound, the motifs and melodies remain authentically Chassidic, deeply emotional, and perfectly matched to the texts and the spiritual essence of the season.

The closing song on the album is “Adon Olam,” a prayer recited year-round, but one to which David Taub feels a special connection during the High Holidays. He shares, “Yom Kippur, at five in the morning, I would walk with my father to the synagogue. These were the most elevated moments for me, not just during the Days of Awe, but throughout the year. The prayers would begin with a heartfelt rendition of ‘Adon Olam,’ and for me, this was the peak of the High Holiday prayers in my childhood.”

The album also features several interesting and diverse duets, including performances by Motti Weiss, Shuki Salomon, and Moshe Schneider, who composed the stirring track “Galeh.”
