Veliyerushalayim Ircha- a prayer for Gd to return and dwell in Jerusalem

“Zion” by Eliezer Botzer, one of our favorite songs and so fitting for this time of year…the song is about longing for Jerusalem and it’s special light.

Sharing some thoughts about “Im eshkachech” and the Beit Hamikdash (the temple). “Mommy, why don’t we have the Beit Mikdash (temple) in our days?” Yesterday we were at an amazing activity for kids that was so suitable for the “nine days” (leading up to Tisha Ba’av)- “experiencing the Beit Hamikdash”. The children saw a play, built a model of Beit Hamikdash, and came home with a lot of questions that we also had to think about very seriously. We answered that Beit Hamikdash was destroyed because of baseless hatred and the kids answered- there is no more hate! (we wish). So we told them that unfortunately there still isn’t unity like we would want there to be. But more so, for so many years we were without the Beit Hamikdash that we forgot what is it and why we miss it…today we don’t have a Beit Hamikdash because unfortunately, we don’t really want it as a nation. That’s why we have to explore what is it that we are missing- a center of spirituality and nationalism that we can unite in and feel the closeness of g-d here on earth. And then one day we will be able to build it together.
