Israel is in turmoil over the question of our participation in the Eurovision Song Contest – against the background of the events of October 7 and the war in Gaza. But this is definitely not the first time that Israel has travelled to a competition just after (or in the midst of) war and tensions. This film, which incorporates many archive clips, returns to these political-musical events and the way in which Israel’s participation in the competition was reflected through them: from the first participation a few months after the massacre of the athletes in Munich until today. The film examines how the events shaped the way we were received in Europe and also how they affected the songs themselves. The film includes conversations with historians, sociologists, retired Shin Bet and Mossad personnel, alongside artists and creators who participated in Eurovision.
