כשצפינו בטקס הממלכתי ליום השואה. שמענו את העדויות המצמררות של מדליקי המשואות, ובסוף כל עדות הופיעה תמונה שלהם עם המשפחות הענפות שלהם כאן בארץ ישראל. לא יכולנו שלא לחשוב על הפס׳ הזה- ״מקימי מעפר דל, משאפות ירים אביון״- בלחן המרגש של יוסף קרדונר, ששנינו גדלנו על המוסיקה שלו. יום השואה אכן מתחיל רצף של ימים לאומיים שלוקחים אותנו למסע, מהחושך הכי גדול, עד לאור של התחייה הלאומית שזכינו לה. #מקימי #משואהלתקומה

During Holocaust Memorial Day, we sat together and watched the national broadcast .While listening to the haunting stories told by the survivors, concluded with modern pictures of them with their large families here in Israel, we thought of this song- “Mekimi”- from Psalms (to the beautiful tune of Yosef Karduner), translating- You raise me up from the dust…and set me with princes. Today is the first of a few national days in the upcoming month, which mark a journey- from the memory of the holocaust towards the national days celebrating the revival of the Jewish people in our land- Yom Ha’atzmaut and Yom Yerushalaim.
