The series includes content related to sexual exploitation and abuse that can arouse negative emotions, discretion is required when watching. A 4-episode documentary series that tells the story of the silence that lasted for years, and kept secret the horrific cycle of abuse by Yehuda Meshi-Zahav of dozens of women and men, of all ages. Until two brave journalists, Shira Elek and Aharon Rabinovich (Haaretz), stopped the campaign of horrors
Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, beloved of the media, beloved of the police, torchbearer on the 55th Independence Day of the State of Israel and recipient of the 2021 Israel Prize for special contribution to society and the state, led a double life for decades, with a warm embrace from the media and a turn a blind eye from the law enforcement system. The series presents previously unheard testimonies about a charismatic man who, through fabrications, inventions and manipulations, managed to work his way up and at the same time systematically raped and assaulted dozens of minors and adults, women and men, and organized mass sex parties. The series shatters the glorious image of the benevolent man Meshi Zahav, which he devoutly cultivated over the years.
Some knew and remained silent, some were negligent, some preferred to ignore and embrace the one who passed from the fringes of the Haredi community to the heart of the consensus and Zionism and told us what we like to hear. In this atmosphere, it is no wonder that the many victims he mercilessly harmed were deathly afraid to complain.
Confronted with this reality, two brave journalists, Shira Elek and Aharon Rabinowitz from the newspaper “Haaretz”, faced this reality and set out on a difficult mission – to locate the victims of Yehuda Meshi Zahav who would agree to complain and stop the ongoing harm. In 2021, shortly after the publication of the investigation about him in Haaretz, Yehuda Meshi-Zahav chose to end his life and avoid standing trial. He also learned the final justice and the possibility of closing the circle from his victims.
