Ahead of the upcoming renewal of the UNIFIL mandate at the end of August, the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the IDF, hosted a delegation of ambassadors from the countries in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
The delegation was briefed on the current situation taking place on the border between Israel and Lebanon. In addition, the participants visited a Hezbollah attack tunnel that was exposed and destroyed during Operation “Northern Shield” 18 months ago.
The visit is part of an Israeli effort to advance the decision to grant UNIFIL the power and tools to effectively implement its mandate and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which can be read about here:
