Take a tour of the lights of Chanukah in the Hasidic community. You know how people do Christmas Lights tours in Brooklyn? Well, we do that, but for Chanukah in Williamsburg! Join us, we also mix it up with a food crawl!

Many thanks to Abe Kugielsky from Hasidim in the USA for the gorgeous photos I used in the thumbnails. Please check out his work here:

Come with me to see what Chanukah is like here. We walk the streets of Hasidic Williamsburg during the holiday—stopping for bagels and donuts, ducking into shops to warm up, watching menorahs light up window after window, and taking in the quiet beauty of this time of year.

This is Chanukah as it’s lived in the so-called “Jerusalem of New York.” Not staged. Not explained to death. Just the rhythm of a neighborhood, the glow of the lights, and the feeling of being inside a place where the holiday is woven into daily life.

This video is a taping of one of my walking tours, filmed in real time, exactly as it unfolds on the street.
